Maintaining Certification & Continuing Competency

AHCA maintains an electronic registry of certified technologists. Active registrants may use the initials associated with credentials they have earned while they remain compliant with current AHCA rules and standards.
Annual registry
The legacy AHCA website states that Active registration requires an annual registry fee of $50. Registrants who remain current receive updated identification materials and remain listed in the online directory.
Continuing medical education (CME)
Continuing competency is supported through ongoing CME. The previous website states that passing an additional specialty examination or earning an additional credential contributes 15 CME credits, and that certain registrants must accrue 30 CME credits during each three-year cycle.
CME documentation
Documentation should identify the registrant, activity date, registry number, sponsoring/accrediting organization, activity title and credit hours.
Active status
Active registrants stay current with annual fees and applicable continuing-competency requirements.
Retired status
The legacy site describes a permanent retired status for eligible registrants no longer actively working in the field, with no CME requirement and a reduced annual fee.
Renewal and record changes
The previous site states that AHCA certifications are renewed annually. Registrants, applicants and candidates should notify AHCA promptly when their name or address changes; legal documentation may be required for a name change.
